James Gunn Just Announced His New Project!

James Gunn, The Director of Guardians Of The Galaxy, just broadened his spectrum when it comes to filmmaking after the incredible, surprising success of his comic book film.

After his directorial debut with Slither, Gunn directed a handful of films before reaching the critically acclaimed success of Guardians. That success may now be playing a big part in the announcement on his Facebook page, the young director has announced he has a new project!

James Gunn Just Announced His New Project!

Gunn posted the news with a full rundown on his Facebook page earlier today.

“I’m incredibly excited to announce that we’re commencing production on a new film, The Belco Experiment, from my own script. The story revolves around the American Belco company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a work day, and its employees are ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true nature of each and every Belco employee.”

Although Gunn won’t be directing the film, instead he has Greg McLean in charge of the whole production. McLean, who directed the Wolf Creek films, will also be joined by producer Peter SafranSafran who’s best known for his productions, Annabelle and The Conjuring. The film is currently in pre-production and set to film in June of next year!

A few more bits of information can be found in the comment section of Gunn’s post. He answered a few questions from Facebook users, telling us that the film will have a theatrical release, it’s not a found footage film, and his first film, Slither, came out exactly 9 years ago today.

James Gunn is directing Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which is set for release on May 5, 2017.
