Ant-Man LEGO Set Reveals Possible Spoilers

[WARNING! This post contains potential Ant-Man SPOILERS!]

After The Avengers: Age of Ultron swoops in to shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ll be introduced to a different kind of hero with the July release of Ant-Man. The film’s first trailer gave us a glimpse of this new cast of characters and their place within the MCU, with an upcoming prequel comic filling in the backstory of Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his connection to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Ant-Man LEGO Set Reveals Possible Spoilers

The prequel comic – which features Agent Peggy Carter – appears to support the long-held rumors that the first part of Ant-Man will be set in the past, focusing on Henry Pym’s initial go-round as Ant-Man and featuring appearances by the John Slattery version of Howard Stark, Arnim Zola (Toby Jones) and a younger Alexander Pierce. We may have to wait until the film’s release to find out how accurate these reports are, but they serve to highlight how little we actually know about Ant-Man‘s story.

Such a move is unlikely, but for a time in the comic books Henry Pym took on the identity of Yellowjacket as a deranged villain. With Ant-Man officially a “heist film,” is it that much of a stretch to consider that a few tried and true con man elements might find their way into the plot?

We’ve seen just how far from the source material Marvel Studios is willing to stray (Iron Man 3‘s Mandarin, for instance), and with all the energy put into establishing Hank Pym in the MCU’s past, turning Pym into a villain role would certainly be a bold movie… while sparking fan ire along the way, most likely. At the very least, we’re bound to see Ant-Man’s alternate costume.

Ant-Man will open in theaters on July 17, 2015.
