DC and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad movie has quickly shot up on fans’ radars as possibly THE most anticipated thing in WB’s emerging DC Superhero Shared Universe. Sure, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has iconic superheroes finally sharing the screen; but Suicide Squad will bring actors like Will Smith, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman together, while also introducing the DC Underworld to the masses – not to mention re-introducing new big screen versions of icons like Joker and Harley Quinn, to be played by Jared Leto and Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie.

Keeping step with some of the more savvy directors of today, Suicide Squad (and Fury) director David Ayer has started a controlled social media teaser campaign to coincide with pre-production on the film. Today’s latest tease: hot weapons, and some big set pieces.

In recent days, Ayer has taken to Twitter to drop the following hints about what kind of big things could be happening in Suicide Squad:

In last month, he’s also given behind-the-scenes peeks at more weaponry in the film:

As well as teasing hardcore fans with a little point that shouldn’t at all strike a nerve:

Ayer already revealed that various iterations of the Suicide Squad comic bookwill be his inspiration for the film – and quite a few of them had a retro vibe like a comic book version of The Dirty Dozen – a film that has already been referenced as an inspiration for Suicide Squad.

Rumored plot details for the film have the story focusing on Deadshot (Will Smith) and Harley Quinn (Robbie) tripping one another up while on respective missions to infiltrate Arkham Asylum. The pair are thereafter Shanghaied to Belle Reeve prison; there they are forced into Covert Agency Maestro Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) Suicide Squad, on a job (maybe for Lex Luthor) to reacquire a piece of bio weaponry that happens to be a young girl with supernatural powers to influence people. When that girl’s powers go out of control in Bell Reeve prison, a riot erupts that sets Jared Leto’s Joker loose on the world, once again. Batman may also make an appearance.

Assuming those plot details are at least close to true (and they still hold strong for a lot of reasons), then one can see how things like a bio weapon heist or massive prison riot would result in the implications of mayhem seen in the tweets above. The images depicting little model cars and figures being blocked as prep for the shoot could easily be a heist scene.

The tweet labeled “Planning photography has enough vans in it to recall something like THIS heist scene in the very comparable Usual Suspects:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25, 2016; Suicide Squad will follow on August 5, 2016.
