Jared Leto’s The Joker Photo Just A Joke?

I think at this point, we all have seen the image that was released to celebrate The Joker’s 75th anniversary.  David Ayer released the first official look at Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad. – Or did he?

Leto’s look for The Joker was immensely different than any take on the villain that has appeared on film before, even though it did incorporate some major homages to the comics.

However, could the entire thing have quite been a shrewdly created joke deserving of The Joker himself? Many fans of the character were immediately suspicious of the picture, and the suspicion was just intensified with spilled photographs from the set that didn’t demonstrate the tattoos from the photograph.

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder retweeted the image, along with the message,

“Ha ha ha, the joke’s on you Batman… #cryptic #75th.”

Snyder’s use of the hashtag “cryptic” had some speculating it was a hint that things might not really be as they appear in the photo.

Now, a brand new tweet has come forth from the official DC Comics Twitter account that has more fans speculating that The Joker photo was just Warner Bros. having a go at the Internet. In a recent Q&A with fans, Batman artist Greg Capullo offered a rather interesting reaction to what he thought of the new Joker image.

Capullo tweeted,

“It was pretty rad. But, I heard it was just a troll @GregCapullo #BatmanChat.”
